Number Seven (Battlestar Galactica) : ウィキペディア英語版
Cylon (reimagining)

Cylon is a fictional artificially-intelligent 'collective' of robotic beings. Because of a special set of programs Zoe Graystone wrote, creating a digital image of her very existence, the Cylons as individuals achieve 'cognizance' – i.e. are able to ask who and what they are – why they exist, and based on that programming, they start out life each believing in a god – the same God Zoe worshiped. And further that they were created by Man as an action of God and that they are equal or superior to Man because of this.
The modern Cylon was reimagined in the ''Battlestar Galactica'' television series and its prequel ''Caprica'' over the original Red-Eye units in the first BSG from TV history. They have several forms including the Centurion (looks like a robot) but a number of others which are modifications of the last instance of the Robotic Instance of Zoe Graystone created in the last seconds of episode 19, the final episode of ''Caprica''.
The last thing you see in ''Caprica'' is Daniel and the Mrs wrapping a towel around the new Zoe body they built for their digital daughter... its compact – about the same height as the original Zoe. Looks just like her too – and that means they created a pseudo organic-mecha hybrid to house their AI instance of Zoe, hence Cylons which resemble and even mimic the behavior of humans, while others are mechanical in appearance and function. Zoe called this robotic carrier for her Digital Intelligence her "skinjob" and it allowed her to walk and talk and interact with the human race in the real world.
==Background==
The Cylon were created as a cooperative although not willing effort by both Zoe Graystone and her father Daniel Graystone, owner of Graystone Industries. These characters appear in the prequel to Battlestar Galactica (the reimaged version) on planet Caprica.〔''Caprica'' pilot〕 Caprica is the capital planet of the 12 colonized planets which make up this governmental entity.
The Cylon is a combination of programming done by Zoe and a MCP-enhanced ("Meta-Cognitive Processor") Graystone Industries U-87 Robot developed by her father Daniel. The original Cylon was developed as a place to house her (Zoe's) Virtual Existence inside of after she is killed in a bombing on a Mag Lev train in Episode 1 of ''Caprica''. Her father sees her Avatar in V-World and forces her best friend Lacy to take him to her in V-World where she explains she is much more than a simple digital simulation – she has the memories of Zoe Graystone – all of them from a neural scan Zoe developed (she is a skilled hacker) to extend a V-World character into a virtual instance of the person. The new Zoe says to her father, "I don't feel like a copy", and that becomes the basis of digital life.
